Sharon Thompson is the International Marketing Manager (EMEA Region), for McBride Research Labs., Inc., an Atlanta USA based family run hair care manufacturer with a 48 year heritage of Hair Product Manufacturing catering to the Afro & Textured hair sector of the market. Sharon has a 30 year history in Marketing, Sales & Brand Management within this sector, having previously held similar roles with 2 other major hair care manufacturers of this type, both based in Chicago, USA. Her history of working within the Cosmetics Industry has allowed her to demonstrate her skills in Negotiation, Business Development, Strategy Planning, Digital Marketing, Product Conception, Public Relations, Budget Management, Marketing Communications, Advertising, and Event Planning. Strong in Relationship Management & Team Building, she has also managed Educational & Technical Teams throughout the region to deliver training seminars and workshops at trade shows, and at salon and college level. Currently she manages accounts in the UK, France, Holland, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and South Africa, and is about to finalise accounts in Rwanda and Israel. She enjoys being able to cause effect to the diverse hair types and textures through the myriad of products supplied by McBride and enjoys the satisfaction customers express when the products cater to their needs.
Ms Thompson has delivered presentations on this specialist subject at conferences for HABIA, (the Hair & Beauty Industry Authority; and the EFBWBO (the European Federation of Black Women Business Owners) amongst others over the years. She has also spearheaded McBride’s Design Essentials Brand of products to win multiple Awards throughout the region, and it is now the Professional Range of Choice by Hairstylists nationwide catering to this type of hair; and the go to range with the Design Essentials Natural Hair Care System as the preferred hair product collection by Consumers seeking high performance products catering to all types and textures of hair. Ms Thompson has also been Awarded a European Award for Entrepreneurship having co-owned the Splinters Academy & Salon as well as supported other Entrepreneurs over the years; and a Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to the Hair Community and Supporting Black Enterprise.
