Preservation of cosmetic formulations has become an increasingly difficult topic considering the shrinking toolbox accepted by legislation and – most of all – by consumers. Preserving natural formulations is even more demanding: the number of accepted preservatives for this market segment is smaller, and in addition the natural ingredients themselves are quite often contaminated with microbes. It is the aim of this presentation to explain how to address this challenge and how to chose the adequate preservation system.
