SCS FormulateClaims are an incredibly important part of a cosmetic product. They are the ‘shop window’ and the initial engagement with the consumer. Cosmetic claims are covered by law, not only requirements in the UK Cosmetics Regulation but, as with all advertising, cosmetic claims must be legal, decent, honest and truthful and must not mislead the consumer. Another important legal requirement is that any claim made by a cosmetic product must be substantiated with robust evidence. In this presentation Emma will introduce CTPA’s Tool for Claim Substantiation. Emma will also focus on green claims, especially given the ongoing review by the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) on such claims.
