Graham McMillan has worked with CTPA (the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association) on its Sustainability Strategy, Driving Towards a Net Positive Cosmetics Industry, since its inception in 2017.  The Strategy was developed in partnership with the sustainable development non-profit, Forum for the Future. Net Positive is considered as a new way of operating which puts more back into society and the environment by delivering benefits that extend far beyond traditional organisational boundaries, contributing more to planet and people than it takes out.   Whilst CTPA’s Sustainability Strategy does not set industry-wide targets, the challenge for companies in moving towards net zero, nature positive, greater equity and inclusion and meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is clear.   In addition to meeting legal obligations and voluntary commitments, consumer research conducted for CTPA highlighted that consumers are looking for tangible efforts and collaborations from companies.

The presentation will challenge the audience to see where their companies lie on the Future Business Transformation Spectrum, explain the key challenging for the cosmetics, beauty and personal care sector, both today and over the next ten years and help identify what actions can be taken by companies to effect the most change.
