Novel tetrapeptide matrikines. From in silico peptide discovery to formulation delivery

Following 15 years of research into skin ageing and repair, No7 this year unveiled a novel matrix-derived peptide blend created with scientists at the University of Manchester.  The No7 R&D team will take you on the journey from discovery to commercialisation; sharing the unique in silico approach taken to identify bioactive naturally-occurring peptides released from matrix degradation then test their efficacy using omics techniques, through to the approach taken to formulate these peptides into a lightweight product designed to optimise peptide penetration whilst being aesthetically pleasing for consumers.

Key takeaways: In silico prediction of matrix degradation can be used to identify bioactive peptides. Considering delivery alongside aesthetics is essential when formulating effectively with peptides.

Key Takeaways: Abi wants to inspire Raw Material producers and suppliers to embrace supply chain transparency. The importance of this topic has never wavered, however it is now becoming more and more prevalent in the cosmetics industry. Chemicals & Cosmetics. A square peg in a round hole?

All chemical ingredients are first and foremost chemicals and this leads to clashes between different regulations and standards. We will look at two key questions: How does the cosmetics industry remain innovative, become more sustainable, and satisfy consumer demand, when its standards restrict the ability of Ingredient suppliers to innovate AND comply with chemical regulations? How do chemical companies develop and supply safe and sustainable cosmetic ingredients, when complying with chemical regulations increasingly means an automatic ban (regulatory or voluntary) from cosmetic applications?

People Are Our Greatest Asset; How can we ensure sustainable future generations of talent?

The chemical industry is one of the most important and diverse industries in the world and it is a vital thread that runs through society and the economy alike.

It relies on a large and complex chemical supply chain, and although the past few years have been challenging, it is resilient and continues to adjust and adapt.

Key to this resilience are the people who form a talented and well-motivated global workforce that possess a ‘can do’ attitude with the relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.

The chemical supply chain offers a huge range of career opportunities, and the Chemical Business Association (CBA) continues to lead and facilitate collaborations using the experiences of recent years as catalysts for positive change whilst building and maintaining momentum to ensure a sustainable chemical supply chain.

Tim Doggett, CEO of the CBA will provide an overview of some of the projects and initiatives underway, and how you can join the drive to ensure sustainable future generations of talent.
