Bentone Luxe – Exceptional emulsification and rheology control

Developing innovative and elegant textures is key to meet consumer needs and market trends. Elementis Specialties offers a state-of-the-art solution which brings measurable and meaningful benefits.  BENTONE LUXE® WS and BENTONE LUXE® WO are multifunctional ingredients providing exceptional emulsification and rheological control. The BENTONE LUXE® series of emulsifying gels create very light yet stable water in silicone and water in oil emulsions with an excellent shear thinning behavior. Consumers will experience an easy application without leaving a greasy or tacky film.   Formulas created with the BENTONE LUXE® grades leave a pleasant residual silky feel on the skin.  In this presentation we will show you how BENTONE LUXE® WS and BENTONE LUXE® WO deliver flexibility for your innovative skin and color care formulations.

HIPEgel – the new inside-out emulsifier for Anti-pollution formulations!

Formulators have long been searching for new textures that can provide a vehicle for delivering oil, water and actives effectively to the skin.  The traditional types of oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions are well established but both have their drawbacks – wouldn’t it be great to combine the benefits of both types? There is a way to do this through a water-in-oil HIPE (High Internal Phase Emulsion) where the amount of internal aqueous phase is greater than 90% and a rich, yet light, quick break effect can be achieved.  HIPEgel Aqua from Alchemy Ingredients enables the formulator to achieve high water phase HIPEs simply, instantly and naturally.  The resultant creams are stable, naturally viscous systems with an added bonus of being ideal for anti-pollution formulas.  The reverse system of high internal oil phase can also be achieved using HIPEgel Oleo!

Olivem® 2020, The Natural Derived Cold Process Emulsifier

Olivem® 2020 (INCI: Ethylhexyl Olivate (and) Sodium Acrylates Copolymer (and) Polyglyceryl-4 Olivate) is a next generation cold process emulsifier that combines olive oil chemistry with both excellent emulsification performance and natural dermollient functionality. It is a perfect multifunctional ingredient with superior sensoriality and clinically tested benefits thanks to its olive oil biomimetic properties.

This natural derived cold process emulsifier is able to give a more cushioning and spreadable performance to the formulations. This novel technology marries the concepts of high functionality alongside natural olive oil’s unsaturated fatty acids composition. The biomimetic origin provides high compatibility with the hydrolipidic skin, increasing skin hydration and promoting a quick and sustained skin moisture.

Olivem® 2020 allows more energy efficient operations since it enables the preparation of Beauty & Personal Care formulations without heating or high shear mixing. Olivem® 2020 can be added in any phase and at any time in the formulation development process to create your emulsion. It is an efficient viscosity builder for water gels (0,5-5%) and it is able to emulsify very different types of oil, from apolar hydrocarbons to sillicones, esters, natural oils and triglycerides to polar esters. Olivem ®2020 can emulsify up to 30% of oil phase to create rich and nourishing textures.

Olivem® 2020’s unique composition, method of manufacturing, and applications are currently Patent pending.

Antaron Sensory™ – refining feel, stability and water resistance – all-in-one solution

Attendees will be able to experience the effect of Antaron™ polymer on sensory in a lot of different applications. For instance, the technology:
• enables SPF 50+ with compelling decrease of greasiness
• Imparts a desirable sensory feel to most formulations, especially sun care formulations.
• Decreases shine in most sun care formulations.

They will also discover how Antaron™ polymer:
• Enhances water resistance of sun care formulations (3D microscopy)
• Acts synergistically with other acrylates thickeners enabling to reduce levels
• Allows formulators to reduce the level of surfactants or remove it completely from formulations
• Can be formulated in emulsions and anhydrous formulations (formulation guidelines explanation)

Scrub up on Science

Scrub Up On Science is the Society's school programme.

Come and see how this amazing programme is evolving and developing

We also aim to inspire you to become ambassadors of the Society to go into your local schools to introduce the world of cosmetic science to the future generations.

Most schools have no practical science lessons for the Under 16s now and we think this is a tragedy.

SUOS lets them learn whilst having fun and encourages them to think about the science behind the products they use in their every day lives.

Please come and learn how you can be involved in this inspirational project.

Nikkol Aron NT-Z and Selachyl Alcohol V: Formulating luxurious minimal W/O creams with a high water phase

IMCD are proud to present two of the Nikkol Group's most innovative new launches this year; the cold process W/O emulsifier Selachyl Alcohol V, and the blurring and texturising polymer Aron NT-Z.

We will be demonstrating how to create incredibly high water phase W/O formulations that have a rich feel with the potential for minimal ingredient use for those desiring 'slimmed down' product lines. Throughout the demonstration we will display a variety of colour and white cosmetic possibilities for this new emulsifier-free system, whilst alongside this showing how easily the fine line blurring polymer Aron NT-Z can be incorporated into any water containing system. A great chance to see Japanese beauty concepts in the UK.

Creating Sulfate-free Systems with Surprisingly Innovative Textures

Innospec’s wide range of versatile, high-performing, sulfate-free surfactants can be used to create a large variety of cleansing system types with appealing and compelling textures and appearance.

Crystal-clear shampoos and body washes through to high oil containing cleansers that are lotion-like in appearance can be conveniently made in simple cold processes. We will be demonstrating how easy it is to formulate with a range of our Isethionate and Taurate sulfate-free surfactants in simple, practical demonstrations. Throughout the demonstration, we will also display several example formulations with various interesting textures. This is a must-see-demonstration for all formulators wishing to advance their knowledge of sulfate-free formulating.
